Leading owner, trainer and jockey titles confirmed at season finale

The 2024-25 racing season came to end on Friday 18th April. Spanning five and half months and 30 race meetings, it has been an historic season for the Bahrain Turf Club. For the first time racing was held under floodlights, in addition a record number of international horses came to race in the Kingdom and locally trained horses demonstrated the increasing quality of racing in Bahrain with their performances both domestically and abroad.

The titles for leading jockey, trainer and owner were all confirmed on Friday with the title of champion jockey going to Bahraini rider, Ebrahim Nader, with 31 winners, five clear of AbdulRahim Jasim in second. Nader enjoyed a great season, riding winners for a variety of trainers and highlights included an emphatic victory in the Listed Al Methaq Mile on Goemon, the Kingdom’s leading miler.

Allan Smith regained his trainers’ title with 54 winners, nearly 20 more than runner-up and last season’s champion, Fawzi Nass, with 35. Already a multiple champion trainer in Bahrain, even by his standards Smith’s yard has been in remarkable form of late, with ten winners last week across the final two meetings of the season.

The owners’ title was retained by Al Mohamediya Racing with 48 winners, sixteen clear of Victorious Racing in second place. Al Mohamediya’s highest rated horse, Zagato, once again delivered, winning four times in the 2024-25 season.
